the colour of today was great

And there we were, gazing at the horrible state of the football pitch which is our very own Dataran and then even horrible state of affairs on it. The "premier" schools of JB sports tournament kicked off this morning and if this was a glimpse of what was to come, I suggest to all, don't bother going. A nice tan is all you'd get for your efforts.

The day started with me reaching school only to know I was about to be on duty for the football matches. Met my "grandma". Damn I think I'm addicted. ( This is your foult Alex )

Quickly donned my number "4" st john tee. Got ready and left for the Dataran. Being accustomed to Malaysian timing, we knew it was never going to start at 9.30 as scheduled. And damn right we were. The match between EC and Kluang kicked off at 11.30. A full two hours later.

Luckily, there was another game before that to keep us company. Muar High took on Batu Pahat High. They were wearing orange and red respectively and thus labelled Holland and Russia by us. Holland started off slower of the two teams. Russia pressed on their advantage and took the lead through a spectacular free kick just outside the area. The crowd ( me, sean, jet ) went wild. Robben ( some bald dude for the Muar team ) equalised with a beautiful lob goal. Sean and myself was left in awe. What a sweet left foot he had. The rest of the half was spent in Holland's half. Swings of the players boots reached a record high. The ball was still no where near the net though. Thankfully, the second half was more exciting. Two crappy goals were scored by Russia. Crappy but it sure did provide some fun. The match ended with the score. Yes ladies and gentleman, the score, RUSSIA 3 - 1 HOLLAND.

Soon after, the EC match started. They had a shortage of referees apparently so they reused the referees. If EC was the pinnacle of sporting success in JB, I'd figure no team would be labelled poor. They played awfully bad. And this is me trying to look on the good side of things. Sean agreed. More swings of the boot were done. This time rather aimlessly by the home team. Their strikers were at least a head shorter than their opposite defenders. And as heaven would have it, they fell behind to Kluang just under half an hour. The half ended that way. The second half commenced and EC attacked. They did right till the end and were awarded a penalty right at the death. Our number 10 stepped up and duly converted the penalty and we went into a state of euphoria. Forgetting that they had played badly, I felt proud at that exact moment.

The rest of the day went rather well. Had extra accounts lesson, went to cs ( saw my grandma), rushed to pelangi (hee), had fun there ( definitely ), tuition was great too. Alvin just adds so much colour to the already so colourful class. So maybe going home wasn't all that but it's just a shade of dullness in my almost perfect colourful day.

in names

It so happened that we ended up talking about names. Names of all things.

Why?

Okay, so maybe the absence of a teacher in class prompted us to do so. haha. We gave each other middle names to pass the time. This was the oh so super result,

Ivan "hard( harto) gay" Looi

Alex "hungry" Tan

Er, actually this were the only two we came up with but heck did we do one hell of a job. I prefer Alex's to Ivan's though. Definitely suits him not that Ivan's doesn't suit him. XD

Hmm, here's some that I came up with,

Pira "talk cock" Naidu

Ash "my-leg" Jeyaraja

Nelson "shop!!" Lim

Raymond "ninja turtle" Loh

Amirul " pailang" Hakim

Alvin "batu bintang" Peh

Ram "emo" Nair

Kong "squared" Kong?

Sean "kimmy" Thum

Jet "blur" Lim

And for my personal favourite, Jon "sepet" Si .Now, don't you think it rocks? Stands out now doesn't it. Yea I think so too. LOL

day 3 - the end

Got up again around 5plus. Bathed and got into our p.e attires. Went down for another round of rehearsals. Had breakfast and then the real march past. Went relatively fine. A litlle mistake was made during the turn but the rest went smoothly.

The announcing of winners came soon after. We only won the best camp site category. The best camper went to some police dude, the best marchers were PKDM(D) but definitely worth debating about, they won for the best performance whis was rightfully theirs. The biggest shock was that PKBM(L) won for best overall unit. WTH. What did they do? Ah heck

Took down the tents and took photos.

all in all, we had fun, we laughed, we did not get all that we wanted but memories like these will last and it definitely enough for me.

Thanks for the memories guys.

- to the form 2, 3, and all my form 4 friends that made this worth the while -

day two - camp

DAY 2 - saturday

Got ready by 5.30, went down to the canteen, waited for the teacher. Heads were already on the table, wrapped in arms. ( most sleeping ) deprived of sleep you see. Alex was the worst of the lot. Complaining the most too. He was appointed "boss" for this camp so he felt he needed to the most so stayed up all night doing the gadgets.

"senam arobik" followed. Some thai music was playing and we were supposed to follow these uber not cool gay movements. XD humiliating I tell you. breakfast was next and our Alex, yes the sleepy one was AWAKE. Food being the reason. Was one of the first to reach the canteen.

Divided into 6 groups. There were 300 of us mind you. Each group was massive. We were grouped with the police unit. 6 activities were to be done.

First up, the cooperative games. Splited into two groups. We lost by 4 cm to the other teams stack of shoes. Had to see who could stack the highest pile of shoes. Next up we had to hold hands and pass a rope through to the end of our line. Kinda okay the activity went.

Then we had orienteering. This one was rather boring. Learned to use the compass. Navigated our way to find different checkpoints. Rather simple cause you could see where the next checkpoint was from the previous one. Had to solve "pantuns". I came up with some whacky ones like, " kalau ada kereta mewah, jangan langgar, langgar" and the others did too.

Then the fun kicked in. And I mean serious fun. We were to do kayaking next. Had to jump into the river with what you were wearing. Jet was in slacks. haha got into the kayaks and just paddled around. Everyone attacked Ivan and I mean really attack. XD Had a few clashes with the wall around the river but it was fun. Jeremy's boat turned turtle when he and Fab came out of it. He went " no no! FAB!!, where are you?? " he thought Fabian was still underneath the kayak when actually he was already making his way out of the river.

The flying fox was next on our list. Learned how to put on the harnest ( looks like some underwear, the way you wear it is exactly the same too) One by one, we went to the top of the 30 foot high tower. Alex was like " safe ah? i dunwan die le" The trainer there couldn't help but scare him a bit. He was like "you're next" with a cheeky grin. When it was my turn, oh the feeling of you going to jump off was very very nerve recking. It was okay once you jumped off though. The feeling of flying like that was truly one of a kind.

-lunch-

Repelling next. This was scaling down a wall. Another cool activity. You get to control all the movements. How fast you wanted to go down and stuff. Ivan wanted to show his "pro-ness" . He kicked at the wall so hard that he came face first whacking the wall. We all laughed but it was damn fun. Some were stiff, some just let the rope go and come down without kicking at all and there was this dude that got his pants torn doing it. (laughs)

The last of our activities was the obstacle course. The course was very fun. It consisted of the monkey-bar, crawling under wire thingy, swinging over mud, one of the police members got his shoe stuck in it and had to use his hands to get it out. felt sorry for the guy. poor dude. we then had to go over a wall. The first few went through with ease. Then came the bigger in size dudes. Me and some others helped out. Creating a mini human staircase. haha

Gathered back at the astaka for a rehearsal of tomorrow's march pass. A freaking long two hour session this one. Had dinner and prepared for the nights "malam kebudayaan". Performed a spontaneous comedy act. Went okay considering we didn't set any lines and all. Slept earlier that night. Around 1.

and so there went day 2

the FUN, sleepless( literally), tiring, no spoon camp

We came, we saw, we ate with our fingers, we were deprived of sleep, we jumped off a 35 foot high building, we scaled down a flat wall, we got soaked in a chocolate river, we blasted Ivan with water, we crawled through mud, we swung over it, we jumped a 7 foot wall, we fought on stage, we slept on tar, all in all, WE SURVIVED!. And still standing to blog about it.

DAY 1 - friday

went to school, assembly, and the likes. Went home after school to get packed. Took a cab to the camp site. KEM TASEK UTARA if I'm not mistaken. Got a brief ( hell no super long ) briefing by our camp commander ( the scarf loving long neck ) and the camp site's man-in-charge ( forgot the name). Pitched our tents soon after. We were doing okay on our own till this lady came over and said in some squeaky arrogant tone,

" kamu nie, pasang kemah pun tak tau, panggil laki lagie, aku pakai ju kurung pun buat lebih cepat, nah cam nie la buatnya"

WTH. It wasn't like we were doing at an ultra slow pace. Moving on, we carried the tents up to the actual site. They didn't want us to "poke" their oh so precious ground it seems. Placed the tents, sorted out who slept in which tents, got back down for dinner and our moral lesson ( the malays were praying you see ) Got into groups. Met two form 6's. Same group with me and lebin. Two others er form 1 and 2 dudes. They kept quiet the whole time. According to the two form 6's they were shy cause of the age gap. We said in other words, they were old. HAHA.

Had some activity soon after, was blindfolded. They wanted us to know what it feels like to be blind. Our school has a UPK( unit pendidikan khas you see ) So we were brought to walk around in that state by different group leaders. Sean being one of them. He brought me once. he changed his voice a little trying to hide i guess. Didn't work la. He tried changing to malay halfway and it was so so so obvious it was him. When we were made to sit, still blindfolded, they made these bottle clashing sounds, and ghostly like sounds, lame much.

By the time all this ended, it was 1 plus in the morning. Got back to the tents only to rush down again. The girls didn't follow the order to sleep at the designated time. So there we were, getting punished for them. Push ups, and some stupid rolling on the ground thing. All to the amusement of our camp commander. Finally got to sleep at 2.45. Got up at 3 plus, slept back and woke up again at 4.50. Time for day two.
